<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine capable of remarkably increasing the effects of an internal EGR. <P>SOLUTION: This engine comprises an exhaust side variable valve device 20 opening an exhaust valve 4 during a normal intake stroke, in addition to during a normal exhaust stroke, when requested by the EGR. By this, since an area for freely exhausting exhaust emission can be set during the intake stroke, a constraint is less as compared with a case in which EGR amount is secured by an overlapped period and a large EGR amount can be secured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
