<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacturing costs in the start system of a computer. <P>SOLUTION: In this computer start system 100, the boot program code of a computer system is set as the initial value of a control register 51a of a peripheral device 51, and when the power source of the computer is supplied, the boot program code is read from the control register 51a in the peripheral device 51, and the execution of the boot program is started. Then, the initialization of the system including a CPU 41 and the initialization of a flash memory 2 and a DRAM 3 is carried out, and the main program code stored in the flash memory 2 is transferred to the DRAM 3.
