PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly and smoothly eliminate gas, which is a hindrance to an ink use operation and an ink supply operation, from inside an ink supply passage of a sealing system formed between an ink tank and a recording head, without being attended with complication of a structure. SOLUTION: The ink tank 10 and a liquid chamber 50 on the side of the recording head 20 are made to communicate with each other by channels 53 and 54; the inside of the liquid chamber 50 is partitioned into a first area R1 on the side of the ink tank 10 and a second area on the side of the recording head 20 by a filter 23; and a meniscus of ink, which is formed in the filter 23, is broken by pressure of gas in the second area R2, so that the gas can pass through the filter 23 so as to be discharged into the ink tank 10 from inside the first area R1.
