PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which quickly detects and corrects step-out and specifies the causes of the step-out. SOLUTION: Pressure sensors 55 and 56 for detecting external forces exerted to a lens barrel 11 are disposed in the parts of the lens barrel 11 where a zoom lens 10b and a focusing lens 10c, respectively, are held. In the event that the external forces detected by the pressure sensors 55 and 56 are not less than the drive torque of a zoom motor 30 and that of a focus motor 10c, a CPU 32 drives the zoom motor 30 and the focusing motor 31, thereby performing a reset operation for setting a lens reference point. In the event that the reset operation cannot be performed when extnernal forces detected by the pressure sensors 55 and 56 are not less than the drive torque of the motor 30 and that of the motor 31 and, in addition, impact sound is sensed by a microphone 20, the CPU 32 determines that a digital camera 2 might have fallen.
