PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an OSD function packaged apparatus capable of solving trouble that an on-screen display becomes hard to watch. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 5 acquires color information and luminance information of a video image on a screen position going to superimpose an on-screen image thereon, and judges whether the color and luminance of the video image on the screen position going to superimpose the on-screen image thereon are matched with or approximate to the color and luminance of the on-screen image. When it is determined that the color and luminance are matched or approximate, the microcomputer 5 performs any one of (1) change processing to the hue and luminance of the on-screen image wherein the difference exceeds a predetermined value, (2) hue change processing to provide a mutually complement color relationship such that the on-screen image becomes green when a received video image is red, for example, (3) processing to change the display position of the on-screen image, and (4) control to stop displaying the on-screen image.
