PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem on a hydraulic turbine generation system using a synchronous generator and an inverter, that a failure mode exists therein where, when a hydraulic turbine is rotated even during the stop of the inverter, induction voltage generated by the generator is charged to a smoothing capacitor in the inverter and it servers as a power source to cause electronic parts to ignite and catch fire if a screw is loosened, or when generation power is lowered if a generation power supply destination is a DC load such as the inverter, power flows reversely from the inverter as the load resulting in power running operation. SOLUTION: For the failure mode where the electronic parts may ignite and catch fire with the application of induction voltage, an open/closed means is provided between the generator and the inverter to be open during stopping operation for preventing the application of the induction voltage to the inverter. When detecting that the generator performs the power running operation, the open/closed means between the generator and the inverter is open to stop the operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
