<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal display device which has high display characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal layer 4 between a front-side transparent substrate 3 and a back-side transparent substrate 8 which faces the front-side transparent substrate 3. A polarizing layer 1 is provided on an observer side of the front-side transparent substrate 3 and a polarizing layer 5 is provided between the liquid crystal layer 4 and back-side transparent substrate 8. Then a transflective layer 7 is provided between the polarizing layer 5 and back-side transparent substrate 8. In this constitution, linearly polarized light is incident on the liquid crystal layer 4 for both reflection type display and transmission type display. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
