PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a running control device for a hydraulic drive type railway construction vehicle capable of smoothly adjusting speed without generating a sudden fluctuation by freely setting motor capacity of a running motor when running. SOLUTION: The running control device for a hydraulic drive type railway construction vehicle is provided with a hydraulic pump for a power source, a variable capacity hydraulic motor for a running driving part, a differential pressure selector valve arranged in a hydraulic circuit between the hydraulic pump and the hydraulic motor to select valve position in response to a differential pressure between the supplying pressure and the discharging pressure and to close a secondary side circuit of the valve when the valve position is neutral, a pressure adjusting valve for adjusting pressure of a hydraulic circuit between the differential pressure selector valve and the variable capacity hydraulic motor, a control valve for supplying oil to the differential pressure selector valve, a running speed instruction detecting means, a hydraulic motor capacity setting means, and a controller for controlling the control valve and the hydraulic motor with a signal from the speed instruction detecting means and the hydraulic motor capacity setting means.
