PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dormant type freshness-maintaining agent having completely different concept to conventional freshness-maintaining agents, capable of maintaining the color of petals for a long period most beautifully by inhibiting metabolic reactions in the plant body and delaying the blooming speed. SOLUTION: This cut flower freshness-maintaining agent consists of an aqueous solution containing 0.01-1.5 ppm 6-benzylaminopurine and 50-500 ppm potassium alum, an effective amount of a sugar such as preferably fructose, trehalose, etc., and an aromatizing agent having an aroma-therapeutic effect such as a herb aromatic, and a silver salt may be not added or sufficient by a very small amount if at all added.
