PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compounds which exhibit a strong agonistic action on a 5-HT<SB>4</SB>receptor and are useful as drugs for accelerating the movement of digestive organs or improving functions. SOLUTION: The compounds are represented by formula (I) [wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a halogen; R<SP>2</SP>is H, a lower alkyl or a lower alkanoyl; R<SP>3</SP>is a lower alkyl; X is the formula: (X-1) [wherein R<SP>4</SP>is a lower alkenyl, a lower alkynyl, -CH=CH-A (wherein A is phenyl, an unsaturated monocycle or bicyclic hereocycle or a saturated monocyclic heterocycle) or -(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-B (wherein B is a saturated monocyclic heterocycle; and n is an integer of 0-3); and in the above both definitions, when N is present in the saturated monocyclic heterocycle, the N may has a substituent of a lower alkyl, a lower alkanoyl or a lower alkoxyxcarbonyl] or the formula: (X-2) (wherein Z is -CO-, -CS- or -SO<SB>2</SB>-; Q<SP>1</SP>is a lower alkyl, a lower alkenyl or a lower alkynyl; and Q<SP>2</SP>is a lower alkenyl or a lower alkynyl)] and their salts are described.
