<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer with a printing output system which has printing modes of color and monochrome and reduces the number of times of switching between the both of the modes. <P>SOLUTION: A control section 21 controls the printing output to an output stacker mechanism 27. The printer compares a kind of a page of color or monochrome with that of the previous page and a print mode with the present print mode. When the kinds of the pages are the same and the print modes are the same, the printing is performed intact. When the kinds of the pages are different from each other and the print modes are the same, the printing is performed by changing the stacker by one. When the kinds of the pages are different from each other and the print modes are different from each other, the stacker number is changed by one and is saved to be stored together with the data. When the kinds of the pages are the same and the print modes are different from each other, the stacker number is not changed and is saved to be stored together with the data.
