PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a format information registration method, an OCR system, and a format information registration program capable of creating appropriate format information without depending on skill of an operator and simplifying work of the operator in creation and registration of the format information for reducing burden of the operator. SOLUTION: A field frame 21 and a character frame 22 are automatically detected from a selection area frame 32 selected by the operator, and field frame information and character frame information about the field frame 21 and the character frame 22 is created to be registered as the format information.
