Disclosed is a distance adjusting device comprising an internally threaded outer shell (8) that can be mounted on the machine, an externally threaded inner shell (9), and a display unit (16) for indicating the distance between the two tire rim parts. The two shells are coaxially screwed together by means of the threads thereof while the inner shell (9) can be axially displaced by twisting so as to determine the distance (D) between two tire rim parts (2, 3). In order to quickly adjust the distance without getting injured while creating a compact design for the distance adjusting device, the outer shell (8) can be fixed to the machine so as to be coaxial and rigid relative to the common axis of rotation (1 a) of the two tire rim parts (2,3) while the inner shell (9) is provided with an axial member (25) comprising a final section (28) that protrudes from said shell towards the tire holding area of the machine. A support head (4) for one of the two tire rim parts (2, 3), which is freely rotatable relative to the inner shell (9), is disposed on the protruding final section of said axial member. The subassembly encompassing the axial member (25) and the support head (4) that carries the tire rim part is retained within the outer shell (8) by means of the inner shell (9) so as to be axially displaceable. |
