<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an image forming apparatus which has an intermediate transfer body. <P>SOLUTION: An exposure device 60 is disposed, for example, substantially parallel to a tangent A so that the lower face of the exposure device 60 is located along the tangent A touching the bottom of a rotary developing device 38. An image forming unit 100 is disposed, for example, such that the lower face of the toner recovery container 58 of a photoreceptor cleaner 54 is substantially parallel to the upper face of the exposure device 60 and such that an anti-secondary transfer part roll 76 is in contact with a tangent B, parallel to the tangent A, touching the top of the rotary developing device 38. A secondary transfer roll 82 and a fixing device 90 are disposed between the tangents A and B.
