<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting device with high efficiency of light extraction when high luminance is realized by arranging a plurality of LED chips. <P>SOLUTION: A substrate 1 is provided with a recess part 10 whose inner side surface is reflection surfaces 2 and 2', and two LED chips 4 are mounted on a bottom surface 3 of the recess part 10. The two LED chips 4 are arranged in proximity so that mutual corners face each other, the reflection surfaces 2, 2' are constituted of six surfaces, and four reflection surfaces 2' positioned in both sides in an extension direction of a straight line X connecting centers of the two LED chips 4 are formed almost parallel to two edge faces 6' of each LED chip 4 and positioned in a direction almost vertical to the straight line X connecting the two LED chips 4.
