<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine capable of surely and early starting the engine. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel supply device for a diesel engine comprises a supply pump, a common rail, a fuel injection valve, and an engine fuel passage. An electronic control unit of the engine grasps an initial value of fuel pressure in the common rail when starting force feed of fuel or before starting the force feed by the supply pump on the basis of an output signal of a fuel pressure sensor, and calculates an estimate value (estimate fuel pressure) of the fuel pressure in the common rail after starting the force feed of the fuel on the basis of the initial value, the total force feed quantity of the fuel to the common rail by the supply pump, and a force feed frequency. When the estimate fuel pressure exceeds a predetermined reference value PFST, the electronic control unit starts fuel injection into a combustion chamber via the fuel injection valve. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
