PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both highly accurate motion image recording in which movement in high pixels is smooth and highly accurate still image photographing by a highly accurate autofocus operation, in a solid-state imaging apparatus so designed as to be switched between two modes, or still image photographing and motion image recording. SOLUTION: The solid-state imaging apparatus includes a photoelectric conversion element array E2 and pixel data read-out control part E3. The pixel data read-out control part E3 has an all-pixel read-out mode for still image photographing in which pieces of image data read out from the photoelectric conversion element array are sequentially outputted for all the pixels, one piece of pixel data for one pixel, and a vertical horizontal pixel mixture read-out mode for motion image recording in which a plurality of pixels in the vertical and horizontal directions are mixed and outputted. In addition to them, the control part E3 has a unidirectional pixel mixture read-out mode in which, while mixing of read pixel data for the plurality of pixels is kept stopped in the vertical or horizontal direction of the array during autofocus control, mixed image data only in one direction is outputted for autofocus.
