PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retina scanning display device which enables a plurality of persons to visually recognize the same image simultaneously by a single retina scanning display device. SOLUTION: An image display device 1 displays an image by arranging: a modulated light output part 2 which outputs light as modulated light modulated according to an image signal; a horizontal scanning part 7 which horizontally operates the modulated light; and a vertical operation part 9 which vertically operates the modulated light, wherein the image display device 1 is provided with an optical branching means 4 provided at a poststage of the modulated light output part 2 and for branching the modulated light outputted from the modulated light output part 2 to display the image on a plurality of retinas.
