PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device which can be installed in the vicinity of a screen by using one aspherical projection mirror in a projection optical system. SOLUTION: A video image is projected toward a screen 3 by passing an aspherical projection mirror 2 once. The mirror 2 is opened/closed with its rotary shaft 2a as an axis, assumes an open state as shown by a solid line during video projection, and is tilted in a direction shown by an arrow and housed inside the housing 1 of the projection display device as shown by a broken line when a power source is turned off. An optical disk 5 or a memory 7 serving as a video source is arranged on a housing surface opposite to the screen 3 and positioned on a user side without intercepting projected light.
