PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the energy efficiency of a refrigerator and to reduce the amount of refrigerant and to improve the safety in the refrigerator using a combustible refrigerant having least influence on the global warming. SOLUTION: This refrigerator-freezer comprises a freezing cycle composed of a compressor having a compressing element composed of a low stage-side compression part and a high stage-side compression part driven by an electric motor, in a sealed case, a condenser, a flow channel switching means, a first expanding means, a cooler for refrigeration, a second expanding means and a cooler for freezing. The flow channel switching means for switching the refrigerant flowing out from the condenser to a cooler side is mounted between the condenser and the expanding means, the refrigerant from the cooler for freezing is sucked to the low stage-side compression part, and the refrigerant from the cooler for refrigeration is sucked to the high stage-side compression part with the refrigerant delivered from the low stage-side compression part.
