PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throwaway tip in which the discharge direction of chips is controlled, and the chips are stably processed in grooving work by cutting including traverse working. SOLUTION: The throwaway tip 1a is composed by forming: a main cutting edge 4 to the crossing ridge of a front flank 2 on the tip front face side and a rake face 3 on the upper face side of a cutting edge protruding part 11; and a lateral cutting edge 6 to the crossing ridge of a lateral flank 5 and the rake face 3 on both side face sides of the cutting edge protruding part 11. At least a large protrusion 7 and a small protrusion 8, which mutually have different sizes, are provided at two places near the main cutting edge 4 and the lateral cutting edge 6 on the rake face 3.
