<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a fixed acid catalyst and to provide a reaction method using the fixed acid catalyst, especially the reaction method used in an aqueous medium, and, furthermore, to provide the reaction method in which the separation and the reuse of the acid catalyst are easy. <P>SOLUTION: This fixed acid catalyst comprises a metal oxide in which a functional group, which can react and combine with a hydroxy group of a 1-10C fluorinated hydrocarbon compound is chemically combined with the hydroxy group in the metal oxide having the hydroxy group and which carries a proton acid catalyst selected from formulae (1), (2) and (3).
