COLOR ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow image forming positions in a plurality of colors for a photoreceptor in a color electrophotographic apparatus to coincide with high accuracy and to remove the adverse effect of a fluctuation in the driving speed of each photoreceptor.

SOLUTION: The color electrophotographic apparatus includes: exposure heads 13 and 17 which form latent images per line onto the photoreceptors 47a and 47b; developing units 14 and 18 which are disposed around the photoreceptors 47a and 47b and develop the latent images; a photoreceptor position detection means for detecting the rotated positions of the photorecetors 47a and 47b with resolution of one line or less; a toner image detection sensor 71 which detects patches formed on the photoreceptors 47a and 47b; a means for measuring the distances of the exposure heads 13 and 17 based upon the output of the toner image detection sensor 71 and the rotated positions of the photoreceptors 47a and 47b detected by the photoreceptor position detection means; and head control parts 120Y to 120K which control the exposure timing of the exposure heads 13 and 17 based upon the measured distances of the exposure heads 13 and 17.
