<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a need for the registration of words by a user for raising the efficiency of an input in a device or a program carrying out the support of an input such as the conversion of kana into kanji. <P>SOLUTION: The following input support device is provided. Information relevant to the periphery of the input support device is acquired, and character string information which is information including character strings which can be inputted is updated on the basis of the acquired periphery information. When the periphery information includes a character string and its kana form, by adding the character string and the kana form as character string information, the user can input the character string by inputting the kana form.
