STORAGE LIBRARY SYSTEM, METHOD FOR OPERATING TAPE LIBRARY, AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING TAPE LIBRARY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartridge transfer assembly surely positioning a cartridge retrieving mechanism in the casing of a storage library system.

SOLUTION: The storage library system may include a static support member having a first shaft and a cartridge transfer assembly. The cartridge transfer assembly includes a cartridge retrieving mechanism configured to retrieve a removable medium cartridge, the cartridge transfer assembly is connected to the support member, and the cartridge retrieving mechanism is positioned with four degrees of freedom. A method for operating the tape library includes the step of transmitting a command signal to a robot controller arranged in the cartridge transfer assembly, and the step of positioning the cartridge retrieving mechanism with four degrees of freedom relative to the stationary support member.
