PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector capable of outputting the data on a change degree of a detection value caused by a change with the elapse of time or the like and capable of certainly detecting the approach to an object. SOLUTION: This detector is equipped with a first threshold setting means for setting a first threshold value of a detection level under a predetermined measuring condition showing the presence of the object by setting the detection level to a reference value, a second threshold setting means for setting a second threshold value of the detection level unable to detect the presence of the object from the reference value of the detection level and an extreme value determining means for outputting a detection error signal when the detection level of the detection signal outputted from the detector is present within the range shown by the first and second threshold values and an extreme value is present in the detection level of the detection signal.
