PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber-forming auxiliary keeping set over a long time, imparting good touch feeling to fibers, not damaging a fiber used and free from irritation to the hand and the skin on use. SOLUTION: The fiber-forming auxiliary comprises at least one kind of compound selected from a guanidine derivative represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>is an 8-22C straight-chain or branched alkyl group or alkenyl group; A is a 1-10C straight-chain or branched alkylene group or alkenylene group; n is an integer of 0-5) and its salt as a set-imparting component. The fiber is preferably a fiber consisting mainly of wool. The fiber-forming auxiliary enables application to fields widely concerning fibers/clothes, e.g. an auxiliary for iron, an agent for caring crease of trousers and skirt, an auxiliary for pressing trousers and an auxiliary for pressing suits.
