PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coated paper satisfying contradicting properties of water resistance and printing suitability together. SOLUTION: The coated paper has a pigment coating layer containing a pigment, a binder and a sizing agent as the outermost layer on at least one surface of base paper consisting essentially of wood pulp fibers. In the coated paper, weight ratio of the pigment to the binder is≥(100/5) to≤(100/25) in the pigment coating layer and at least one or more kinds of anionic sizing agents are used as the sizing agent. The one or more kinds of the anionic sizing agents are contained in an amount of 1-20 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. of the pigment.
