PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video output apparatus capable of being compatible with kinds of a plurality of video signals and a plurality of television systems and easily connected to a television monitor while maintaining a small size and a light weight. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus outputs to one video output terminal 10: a signal selected by a changeover switch 11 from a high definition video signal HDTV signal 16 comprising luminance and color difference signals with a high resolution whose effective number of scanning lines is a prescribed number or more, or a standard definition video signal SDTV signal 17 comprising luminance and color difference signals with a standard resolution whose effective number of scanning lines is a prescribed number or below; and composite NTSC / PAL video signals comprising luminance and color difference signals of the first or second television system altogether.
