<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for replacing a ruptured or injured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) with a graft through the use of a new biodegradable engagement screw made of a compound including a biodegradable polymer, and a bioceramic, or a bioglass. <P>SOLUTION: The method of replacing the ACL with the graft has a process for drilling with drilling bone tunnels 280, 290 in a femur 150 and a tibia 130. A replacement graft is provided having first and second ends. A biodegradable composite screw 5 is provided. The screw is made from the biodegradable polymer and the bioceramic or the bioglass.
