<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording medium for both a colorant and a pigment ink, which exhibits good ink absorbability, can be used in high-speed printing, imparts an approximately perfect circle to the shape of a dot, and exhibits excellent color density, gloss, and uniformity of an image. <P>SOLUTION: This inkjet recording medium has an ink absorbing layer composed of a plurality of coating layers formed on a substrate. The outermost surface coating layer of it and a directly adjacent first inner coating layer contain a fine pigment having a mean particle size of 0.01 to 0.7 μm. The peak of the diameter of fine pores on the outermost surface coating layer is in a range of 0.001 to 0.1 μm in a fine pore diameter distribution curve. A binder of the outermost surface coating layer contains a water-insoluble synthetic resin latex as a main component.
