PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet apparatus which is equipped with a maintenance device capable of enhancing durability of a cleaner, and a driving method for the liquid jet apparatus. SOLUTION: A cleaner member 26 is fixedly provided in a slide member S. A part of a gear supporting part 19M of a wiping device is fitted and inserted into an L-shaped stopper member F which is provided on a side surface CKb of a mounting case CK. Furthermore, a supporting shaft Sd, which can be moved relatively to a gear 19G for controlling a wiper, is passed and inserted through a hole 19H which is formed in the center of the gear 19G.
