PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus provided with a solid-state imaging device that switches automatically between a linear conversion characteristic and a logarithmic conversion characteristic in its photoelectric conversion characteristic and capable of applying white balance processing even to a signal outputted with either characteristic. SOLUTION: A database Dr obtained by the photoelectric conversion characteristics of R and G signals and a database Db obtained by the photoelectric conversion characteristics of G and B signals are stored in LUTs 82r, 82b respectively. Signal value calculators 81r, 81b read out the databases Dr, Db from the LUTs 82r, 82b respectively and perform white balance processing on the R and B signals respectively.
