PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set with an alarm function which can output an alarm sound without damaging ears of a user. SOLUTION: When a present time reaches an alarm setting time during a call on the slave machine-side of a cordless extension telephone set, an alarm sound output is suspended. When the call on the slave machine-side is terminated (S210:YES and S220:YES), the alarm sound is outputted from the speaker of a slave machine at a setting sound volume (S250) after a holding time elapses from call termination (S260:YES). When the present time reaches the alarm setting time while an operation for inputting various pieces of information is performed on the slave machine-side, the alarm sound output is suspended. When the operation on the slave machine-side is terminated (S210: YES and S220:NO), the alarm sound is outputted from the speaker of the slave machine with the sound volume smaller than the setting sound volume (S280).
