PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly and quickly heating the food to a specific temperature from its surface to the inside. SOLUTION: This heating cooker has a heating control means for controlling a high-frequency generating means 3 and a switching means 6 on the basis of temperatures detected by an infrared ray temperature sensor 17 and an inside temperature sensor 18, and the switching means switches a direct heating mode for directly heating the food by high frequency and a steam heating mode for heating the food by the steam generated by heating the water by high frequency. The heating control means has a switching part 18 for performing the heating in the direct heating mode from the early period on starting the heating and in the steam heating mode in the middle of the heating on the basis of a surface temperature of the food detected by the infrared ray temperature sensor, and controls the steam heating mode to keep the detection temperature of the inside temperature sensor at a specific finishing temperature. Thereby the food can be uniformly heated to the specific finishing temperature from its surface to the inside, and as the inside of the food is heated by high frequency at the early period on starting the heating, the heating can be quickly completed.
