PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lock an optical pickup base to one end side of a lead screw and to easily unlock the pickup base during actual use. SOLUTION: The optical pickup feed mechanism is equipped with: the lead screw 42 which is extended over the diametral direction of an optical disk 4 and has spiral screw grooves 47 in an axial direction; and a rack member 44 which is disposed at the pickup base 36, is screwed to the screw grooves 47, and is thereby moved between the inner and outer peripheries of the optical disk 4 when the lead screw 42 is rotated. The rack member 44 is provided with an engaging section 56 which is engaged with the outer peripheral side end of the lead screw 42. The lead screw 42 has a locking member 48 which is locked with the pickup base 36 by engaging with the engaging section 56 of the rack member 44 existing on the outermost periphery when the locking member is rotated together with the lead screw 42 to the position corresponding to the outer periphery of the optical disk 4, and is unlocked from the engaging section 56 of the rack member 44 fed and operated to the inner peripheral side.
