PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good steel sheet excellent in the uniformity of surface grade after pickling by drastically preventing a pattern having drop-state of water, water stream-state or map-state, developed on the steel sheet surface after pickling, when an austenitic stainless steel slab is hot-rolled, annealed and subjected to pickling for descaling. SOLUTION: In a method for producing the steel sheet by casting the austenitic stainless steel with a continuous casting apparatus and successively, hot-rolling and annealing and thereafter, pickling for descaling, the cooling just after hot-rolling is performed under any condition among (1) natural-cooling is performed until the steel sheet temperature becomes <600°C, (2) water-cooling is started from the temperature of the steel sheet exceeding 800°C, and (3) after natural-cooling until the steel sheet temperature becomes≤800°C, the water-cooling is started after reheating or raising the temperature till the temperature exceeding 800°C. Further, as the annealing condition, the steel sheet is held at≥1070°C for≥5 min and further desirably, at≥1100°C for≥15 min. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
