The fuel and/or fodder, derived from vegetable material, is compressed into briquettes or pellets. At least 50 wt.% of the total mass comes from husks and awns and other waste from cleaning the seeds of agricultural plants e.g. wheat grains, with the balance of combustible and/or edible components of vegetable or non-vegetable origin.
