The present invention relates to a remote meter-reading system that can remotely read a integral metering in real-time by taking a picture of a number display part of the meter, extracting a minimum number image from a picture image, encoding the minimum image into a monochrome or color mode image data, and reading the data through the wire or wireless transmission. A wire/wireless remote meter reading system includes a reading terminal including a camera taking a picture of a number display part of a meter for water, electricity, gas and the like according to a preset period, a main processor having an image process module extracting a minimum number effective area from a picture image and encoding the extracted effective area in a monochrome or color mode image data, and wireless transmission module for transmitting the image data; a collector including a wireless transmission module receiving the image data from the reading terminal and a main processor transmitting the image data of the reading terminal and a typical identification code of the collector via a wire transmission according to a preset period or at a less busy night time; and a wire terminal and a wire transmission line for transmitting the data received from the collector to a management computer of a reading centre. |
