The movement restraint device (10) is composed of at least one element (12) which is expanded in a spring (18) action from a small and compact cube unit into a large-volume active condition, by a pyrotechnic effect, to throw out the separate edge elements (14), which have been held together by an adhesive bond (16). The spring, in spring segments (20), is on a diagonal within the cube. The edge elements are of micro-wires, fibers or fiber bundles.
