Mixing microspheres into a plastics material in a twin-shaft extruder

For the manufacture of syntactic plastics by mixing plastics material and hollow microspheres (42), use is made of a twin-shaft extruder (1) where the plastics material is plasticized. The supply of microspheres (42) takes place in at least one filler supply zone (18). Then the microspheres (42) are incorporated into the plastic material in an incorporation zone (19). The mix of plastic material and microspheres (42) is vented in a vented zone (21). After pressure build-up the mix is delivered for one-heat processing.
