A multiphoton confocal microscope with autocorrelator for laser pulses based upon a lateral-shearing interferometer

A confocal laser-scanning microscope, in particular a multiphoton microscope, comprises in combination: an ULS pulsed laser source; a scanning head (CSH) for scanning the laser beam (F) generated by said source; an optical path for the laser beam extending between the scanning head and a support (P) for a specimen to be examined; a focusing optics (O) set along the optical path; a photo-detector for detecting the radiation emitted by the specimen set on the support and impinged upon by the radiation of the laser source. The microscope further comprises a lateral-shearing interferometer, which can be inserted along the optical path.
