1,158,807. Bearings. W. SCHAEFFLER, and G. SCHAEFFLER, [trading as INDUSTRIEWERK SCHAEFFLER OHG]. 29 Sept., 1966 [24 Nov., 1965], No. 43494/66. Heading F2A. In a cage of a roller bearing, at least one of the walls of a pocket is inclined relatively to a radial line 11 which passes through the centre of the pocket. When a number of pockets are provided with inclined walls, the direction of inclination is the same. As shown in the upper part of Fig. 2, both walls 9 of each pocket 8 are parallel and are inclined relatively to the radial line 11, whereas in the lower part of Fig. 2, only one wall of each pocket is inclined relatively to the radial line 11 and the other wall extends in a radial direction. Forward movement of the rollers causes the cage to rotate. Fig. 1 (not shown) depicts such a bearing coupling a shaft, fitted inside the cage, to a component such as a pinion surrounding the cage. In such an arrangement the shaft can transmit torque to the component.
