The device for protecting the central buffer coupling of a rail bound vehicle against influences of the weather and contamination is a flexible cover (1) which fits almost any size of coupling and is fitted on the separated or closed coupling of preferably the first and/or last vehicle. The cover is in the form of a hood which in its rear section has an opening for pulling onto the coupling (2), and in its front section are located one or more sealing devices for an additional opening.
