[Also in Division D1] Apparatus for conveying linked pairs of rods 21 with hanks 32 of textile material looped over them along a treatment path comprises a succession of propulsion wheels having peripheral notches 13 which engage members 6 removably attached to the rods 21. The rods are also connected by hinged spacer links 24. The members 6 are in the form of guide links, Fig. 5 (not shown), having tubular spindles (25) which fit over the extremities (4) of the rods (21). The guide links 6 have a peg (7) for engagement with the wheel notches 13 and travel in guides 15 which follow the curves of successive propulsion wheels. The wheels include gearwheels (11), Figs. 2, 3, 4 (not shown), which may be driven by a single motor. Initially, the rods 21 and hanks 32 pass from a magazine 8 into an automatic coupling device 5 which connects a guide link 6 to each side of each pair of linked rods. The pegs 7 of the links 6 are brought into register with a pair of notches 13 of the first wheel by a rotary lever 9 and the links 6 enter the guides 15. The pegs become disengaged from the notches of the wheel and are engaged by notches of the next wheel. The hanks pass over a cylinder 14 into a processing tank 17 which includes an impeller 16, heating and cooling pipes 18, and ducts for infeed of water and chemicals. The hanks are then convoyed between wringing cylinders 20 before passing into a chamber 31 in which the hanks are free to shrink. At a point 22 the pegs 7 are disengaged from the notches 13 of the last propulsion wheel, the links 6 are separated from the rods 21 and the hanks, supported on the rods connected by the links (24), are wound on to a roll 27. The guide links 6 drop into the upper end of the magazine 8 which conveys them to the feed end of the apparatus.</p> |
