[Also in Division C2] Therapeutic compositions, suitable for parenteral administration, and animal food stuffs having estrogenic activity and aid in increasing the rate of growth in meat producing animals, contain as active ingredients novel benzoxotetradecane derivatives of the formula wherein A is -CH=CH-, or -CH 2 -CH 2 -, R is H, C 1-8 alkyl, benzyl, bromo-benzyl, or a saturated acyclic C 1-8 acyl groups, the R groups being the same or different; X is H, -SO 3 H, -SO 3 R 1 , -SO 2 CP, or -SO 2 NH 2 , wherein R 1 is C 1-8 alkyl and R 2 is H, C 1-20 alkyl, monocyclic aryl or halogen with the proviso that not more than one X is H and that R is alkyl or benzyl when X is SO 2 Cl, and B is C=O, CHOH, or CH 2 with the proviso that A is -CH 2 -CH 2 when B is CH 2 .
