[Also in Division D1] Spinnable mixtures comprise a crystalline polyolefin and 1 to 25% by weight of the mixtures of a polycondensate of epichlorohydrin and a heterocyclic bis-secondary diamine of formula where R is hydrogen or C 1-12 alkyl. Specified polyolefins are polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene - 1, polypentene - 1, polyhexene - 1, poly - 4 - methylpentene - 1, polyoctene - 1 and polystyrene. The polycondensate may be derived from epichlorohydrin and homopiperazine or 5,5,7-trimethyl, 5,6,7-trimethyl, 5,7-dimethyl or 5,6-dimethyl-7-propyl homopiperazines; optionally together with other bis-secondary diamines, e.g. piperazine, 2-methylpiperazine, 2,5- dimethylpiperazine, N,N1 - dimethylethylenediamine, N,N1 - dimethylhexainethylenediamine and N,N1 - dicyclohexylhexamethylenediamine. The compositions may also contain solid dispersing agents, opacizers, stabilizers, dyes and pigments, and may be melt spun to form filaments and fibres. Alternatively the polycondensate may be incorporated by applying a solution or dispersion thereof to shaped articles of the polyolefin. The products are readily dyed. The polycondensates may be rendered water-insoluble by treatment with epoxy compounds, isocyanates, aldehydes, halogens or metal salts. Examples describe the preparation of polycondensates from epichlorohydrin and (1-3) 5,5,7-trimethylhomopiperazine, together with (4) N,N1-dicyclohexylhexamethylenediamine; (5) 5,6,7-trimethylhomopiperazine; (6) 5,7-dimethyl homopiperazine and (7) 5,6-dimethyl-7-propylhomopiperazine and piperazine. The polycondensates are incorporated in compositions comprising polypropylene, calcium stearate and titanium dioxide, which are spun and the resulting fibres treated with aqueous solutions of ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether.
