A DDC-compatible video display comprises a DDC-compatible nonvolatile memory (11) and control means (13) for writing, in the nonvolatile memory (11), the EDID data for the video signal to be inputted out of the EDID data for video signals of a plurality of types according to the information representing the type of the video signal to be inputted. The DDC-compatible display can allow the host side to make settings matching the attributes of the video display about video signals of a plurality of types, thereby promoting reduction in cost and size.
