1,170,053. Spray-producers. R. T. MACGUIRE-COOPER. 13 Feb., 1967 [16 Feb., 1966], No. 6744/66. Heading B2F. An actuator device for pressurized containers comprises a polyethylene body 11 fitting onto a valve stem 6 and having an internal chamber 12 communicating with the exterior of the body through at least two converging passages 13, 14 which intersect before the outer surface 15 of the body to form a cavity (16), Fig. 3 (not shown) and to cause impingement of spray jets from the passages. The cavity (16) terminates in a generally elliptical discharge outlet (17) Fig. 4 (not shown). The converging passages may be formed in a separate insert (20), Fig. 5 (not shown) which may be interchangeable. The valve stem 6 communicates with a chamber having holes which are aligned with holes in a coaxial riser tube (3) Fig. 1 (not shown) extending into the liquid in the container, when the actuator is depressed. A spring biases the valve to a closed position. A projecting lip may be formed on the outer surface 15 adjacent the discharge orifice to direct the spray and assist in the production thereof. The nozzle device may be used with high density gases.
|
