In functional food or drink, consisting (mainly) of cereal, especially wheat, as standard raw material or milled product, part of this cereal is replaced by a groats or flour fraction of a purple wheat and/or blue aleurone wheat obtained from the husk and aleurone layer of the grain, which is a red- to violet-colored bran-rich or bran fraction and/or a yellow to orange groats fraction from the endosperm layer of a red/yellow purple wheat.
